A Full Range of Dental Services

Brighter smiles make a brighter future, and Dr. Jordan offers a full range of in-house dental services and aesthetic treatments..

A filling is used to fix a cavity in a tooth.  Cavities are decayed areas of your teeth that present as holes or soft areas of the tooth. Cavities can develop on any surface of a tooth including between teeth and on the roots.  Popular filling materials include amalgam (silver) and composite resin (white), with composite being the most preferred since it is tooth colored.

At Crosstown Dental Group, we restore teeth with composite resin fillings so we can match the exact shade of your tooth.  In general, composite fillings have less post-treatment sensitivity since composites do not contract and expand with temperature fluxuations like amalgam fillings do.

Crowns, also known as caps, are used to protect, cover and restore the shape of your teeth when a cavity is too big or extensive to be treated by a filling.  A crown can be placed on a natural tooth or implant to change the color, size, orientation, or shape of the tooth.  They are cemented in permanently and appear to come directly out of your gums like a natural tooth.  Crowns can be made from a variety of materials including metals, porcelain/ceramic, and zirconia.  There are pros and cons to each material, but at Crosstown Dental we majorly use zirconia on back teeth when strength is needed and porcelain on front teeth where esthetics matter most.  Both material choices are white and can be customized to your tooth shade.

The average crown process can take multiple visits over the course of 1-2 months.  However, at Crosstown Dental, we utilize technology and our on-site lab to fabricate same day crowns.  After your tooth is prepared for the crown, our technicians use CEREC technology to digitally scan the prepared tooth and the adjacent areas.  This eliminates the need for those time-consuming and messy traditional impressions.  Immediately after the scan, the file is digitally sent to our on-site lab for the design and construction process.  This streamlined use of technology saves you time, minimizes future visits, and reduces potential discomfort.  When your crown is complete, we ensure it fits properly before we seat it permanently.

Despite their bad reputation, root canal treatments serve a great purpose to save teeth that would otherwise be extracted. You may have heard that a root canal is a dreaded treatment option – but at our office, it is much like any other dental procedure and can usually be completed in one visit.

Inside the tooth resides the nerve, also referred to as the pulp of the tooth. The pulp contains the blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue that keep the tooth alive and vital. Sometimes, when a cavity is left untreated, it can get deep enough to enter the pulp of the tooth.  Once it enters the pulp, it infects the tooth.  This can present as a toothache or an abscess (bump on gums usually filled with pus).  This infection is removed and the tooth is saved by performing root canal treatment.  During root canal treatment, the cavity and nerve are removed. Then small files are used to clean and shape the chamber inside the roots of the tooth so they can be filled and sealed to prevent future infection.  Once the root canal is complete, usually a crown or some other restoration is needed to close and cover the tooth for function

Dental implants are medical devices surgically implanted into bone to replace one or more missing teeth.  The implant is hidden securely in the bone and covered by gums, while a crown, a bridge, or a denture is placed on top.  Implants are a great restorative method, but they are not ideal for every patient.  Give us a call to see if an implant is right for you!

Complete dentures, sometimes called a “plate”,  are full-coverage oral prosthetic devices that replace a complete arch of missing teeth.  Most dentures are fabricated months after a patient has healed from their extractions.  However, if teeth are wanted immediately, the denture is referred to as an “immediate denture.”  Immediate dentures have the great benefit of providing instant teeth, however, due to the healing process, they will need to be resized after a few months of wear.  This resizing is known as a “reline” and it may be needed one or more times during the healing process.                                                                                                                                                  Additionally, patients can have 2 or more implants placed in an arch to support the complete denture.  The implants provide more stability and security for the denture while you talk and chew.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your tooth’s appearance. These shells can be made of porcelain or composite resin, and they are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.  Veneers are similar to crowns, but they don’t require as much tooth structure to be removed.  This makes veneers ideal for teeth without cavities or existing fillings.

Our goal at Crosstown Dental is to save teeth, but in some instances, the tooth can not be saved.  We perform simple extractions, surgical extractions, and select wisdom tooth extractions.

Sealants are shallow fillings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth before a cavity is present.  By placing a sealant shortly after the tooth erupts, you significantly reduce the chance that a cavity will form because the sealant covers up the area of the tooth most prone to cavities. Sealants are most commonly used on children and numbing is not needed for the procedure.

At Crosstown Dental Group we have 2 options to keep your pearly whites as bright as possible.  Our in-office whitening option, GLO, is ideal for people who have a special event coming up or those who want instant whitening results.  The entire process takes about an hour and consists of 4 eight minute lighting sessions.                                                                                The unique whitening method utilizes the Guided Light Optics (G.L.O.) system, which combines warming light technology in a closed system mouthpiece, this activates the professional strength GLO Gel and provides fast, efficient, long-lasting results. One of the best features of this system is the minimal post-treatment sensitivity. The specialized whitening gel is free of alcohol, carbamide, and peroxide, the ingredients that commonly cause sensitivity and the drying of the gums. Our chair-side GLO results speak for themselves but ask us about our GLO take-home kits for touch-ups and long-term maintenance.

In addition to our in-office whitening system, we also offer convenient take-home Opalescence Go Strips.  Opalescence Go is a professional alternative to over-the-counter whitening options.  It’s a simple, fast, and comfortable way to begin your whitening journey or to maintain your already beautiful smile.  In addition to the professional-grade whitening gel, Go strips also contain fluoride and potassium nitrate to minimize tooth sensitivity.  With no impressions or custom trays needed, Opalescence Go is ready to use right out of the package

At Crosstown Dental Group we offer both a bracket system and a clear aligner orthodontic system to help patients with crooked, spaced, or misaligned teeth.  Our cosmetic bracket system is called “6 Month Smiles” and it utilizes discreet clear ceramic brackets and tooth-colored wires to move front teeth in about 6 months’ time.  Using proven techniques and materials, this system is safe, comfortable, and provides quick results.

Our clear aligner orthodontic option at CDG is called Crosstown Clear.  This program is a series of metal-free invisible, removable, and comfortable trays that straighten your teeth like traditional braces.  During your treatment, you will wear each aligner for the whole day (except while eating) and change out the aligners at a prescribed time interval.

Both orthodontic systems utilize digital technology and scans of your teeth (no impressions) to predict your overall time frame and end result.  At the end of your treatment schedule, a permanent or removable retainer will be made and given to you to wear for proper maintenance of the alignment of your teeth.

A nightguard is a retainer-like piece of hard or soft plastic worn to protect your teeth. They are often referred to by many other names like: occlusal guard, dental guard, mouthguard, bite splint, or nocturnal bite plate.  Regardless of what you call it, a night guard covers the biting and chewing surfaces of teeth and can be worn on either the bottom or top arch. Since patients have different teeth patterns and alignments, a nightguard is custom-made for each patient by molding it to fit your teeth. The purpose of this device is to protect your teeth from clenching and grinding forces.  The condition of clenching and grinding is called bruxism, and it majorly presents at night but can also be done during the day.  One of the main causes of bruxism is stress, so there has been a notable increase in bruxism since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Grinding and clenching can lead to broken teeth, worn down teeth (erosion), headaches, jaw pain or popping, and tooth sensitivity.

Night guards can be purchased over-the-counter or made by your dentist.  At Crosstown Dental Group, we offer a variety of night guards so we can be sure to find an option that fits your lifestyle.

Lasers play a significant role in our advanced processes at Crosstown Dental. They are used to trim and reshape gum tissue, sterilize and clean periodontal pockets in the treatment of gum disease, and to remove lesions and abnormal growths.

At CDG, we utilize soft tissue lasers to reduce the need for scalpels and sharp cutting instruments. The lasers penetrate soft tissue while sealing blood vessels and nerve endings, allowing for a much more comfortable removal of excess tissue, without the need for sutures. Bleeding and swelling are minimized and usually there is very little post-op sensitivity.

As technology evolves and advances, we are committed to incorporating cutting-edge tools and techniques along with tried and true methods in oral hygiene and dental procedures. Laser technology provides effective and precise treatments that can minimize anxiety, pain, and recovery time while maximizing positive outcomes for our patients.

At CDG we specialize in the safe and effective application of Botox to relax muscles and reduce wrinkles of the face.  Botox can be administered to specific areas of the face to minimize signs of aging.  When Botox is injected into a muscle, it stops the nerve impulse from reaching the muscle.  This prevents the muscle from contracting as strongly as it normally would, thusly preventing the overlying skin from wrinkling.  Botox is safe to use in most patients and has been used for many years in various locations on the body.

Results of Botox are typically seen within 5-10 days, and they last anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the area and the person.  Some patients who have been receiving Botox for several years report that their results last longer and they are able to extend the interval between their touch-up doses.

Common areas and conditions we Botox:

  • Glabella (vertical lines between eyebrows also called “elevens”)
  • Frontalis (horizontal forehead lines)
  • Crows Feet (lines on outer corners of eyes)
  • Radial Lip Lines (lines extending from lips, also called “smokers lines”)
  • Gummy Smile (relaxes upper lip so gums don’t show as much when smiling)
  • Clenching/Grinding (relaxes masseter and/or temporalis muscle so you can’t clench or grind as hard, also slims jawline)
  • Lip Flip (subtly lifts upper lip so it becomes more visible)

Whether you have an emergency toothache or just want a check-up, we’ve got you covered.  Routine dental exams are important to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. We offer limited (single area) or comprehensive (full mouth) oral exams.  Depending on the area of concern, one or more X-rays may be needed to diagnose your issue.  Additionally, we provide comprehensive exams after each hygiene cleaning appointment to find and inform you of any additional treatment you may need.  The Academy of General Dentistry recommends twice-yearly checkups for all age groups.  With this consistency, most problems can be caught while they remain in an early stage.
