Crowns/Bridge

Crowns, also known as caps, are used to protect, cover, and restore the shape of your teeth when a cavity is too big or extensive to be treated by a filling.  A crown can be placed on a natural tooth or implant to change the color, size, orientation, or shape of the tooth.  They are cemented in permanently and appear to come directly out of your gums like a natural tooth.  Crowns can be made from a variety of materials including metals, porcelain/ceramic, and zirconia.  There are pros and cons to each material, but at Crosstown Dental we majorly use zirconia on back teeth when strength is needed and porcelain on front teeth where esthetics matter most.  Both material choices are white and can be customized to your tooth shade.

The average crown process can take multiple visits over the course of 1-2 months.  However, at Crosstown Dental, we utilize technology and our on-site lab to fabricate same-day crowns.  After your tooth is prepared for the crown, our technicians use CEREC technology to digitally scan the prepared tooth and the adjacent areas.  This eliminates the need for those time-consuming and messy traditional impressions.  Immediately after the scan, the file is digitally sent to our on-site lab for the design and construction process.  This streamlined use of technology saves you time, minimizes future visits, and reduces potential discomfort.  When your crown is complete, we ensure it fits properly before we seat it permanently.
